In 2026, I noticed that the Toejam Backlot Original Gangstas wall I had painted way back in 2006 and completed in 2009 was looking very rough. I began the process of washing, scraping, filling, and re-priming the wall. It took about 6 weeks to restore and re-paint the wall. This time around, I wanted to attempt to re-create the look and feel of each character by using a shot from the films they appeared in that preserved the colors and look of that era. The harsh green-tinge of Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 classic “The Shining” and the deep, rich tones of Coppola’s “The Godfather”. I wanted the characters to look as real as possible. Utilizing the extensive pallet of 2026 colors available, I was able to do this. Way back in 2006-2007, when I started, there was only Krylon, Rustoleum, and a handful of other paints you had to dig to find, not including ordering paint from overseas which took weeks to arrive. The same cast of characters was utilized again to preserve the look and feel, although some small details were updated. The Logo for Toejam Backlot was added to the empty space to the right.
